There wasn't a march in Austin but there was a rally

Thousands of people are attending the third annual Women’s March in Washington on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Other like-minded rallies or marches are also being planned in different cities and towns across the United States, including here in Central Texas.

This year, the rally being held at the Texas State Capitol is an expansion upon the annual Texas Reproductive Rights Rally as it coincides with the date of that event. According to organizers, they have expanded the scope of the TRRR to include support for all the issues that women face, in order to allow for a greater diversity of women to share a greater variety of personal experiences.

Those who are interested in gathering in support for women, in their fight for equality and equity are asked to join speakers and organizers at the south steps of the capitol from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. To learn more about the Austin Women's Rally 2019, click here.

There is no march associated with the event this year.

There are marches in other cities, including Houston, Dallas and San Antonio.
