Three dead after crash on 290

Authorities in Bastrop are investigating a crash that happened on February 13 in which three people were killed.

The Department of Public Safety says that a young man was driving a Chevy SUV eastbound on US 290 west of Old McDade Road when for an unknown reason he lost control and went into a side skid in to oncoming traffic.

A truck hit the SUV causing the SUV to catch on fire.

The driver of the SUV and the two people in the truck died on impact.

The investigation continues and it's not known if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
