Two bodies found in Leander, weeks after fatal crash

The Medical Examiner's office has identified two people found dead inside a wrecked car near Leander.

The vehicle was discovered on Saturday near the intersection of Limestone Creek Road and RM 2243 but troopers say it appears the crash happened weeks ago.

The Nissan Altima was apparently hidden from view in the thick brush along 2243. Troopers say a man walked by it on Saturday morning and called it in. The bodies of a man and woman in their 70s were still inside.

The Medical Examiner's Office has identified the driver as Warren Thomson, 76, and the passenger as Johanna Sturm,73. Troopers say the victims were not reported missing.

This is the second time in a week that a body has been found long after the crash. Troopers say on October 4th, a car and truck collided off US 183 in Mustang Ridge. The car was empty when officers arrived. It was presumed the driver fled then, five hours later, a utility worker found the driver's body in a field 50 yards from the scene.
