Two killed in southwest Austin crash

Two people are dead after a head on crash in southwest Austin. It happened around 9:30 p.m. on March 2 along Scenic Brook Drive at Highway 290.

Officials say a Jaguar was driving westbound on 290 and crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic. A Honda was traveling eastbound on 290 and tried to avoid hitting the Jaguar but was unable to and the two cars collided.

The driver of the Jaguar, 58-year-old Robbi Lynn Sluder, and the driver of the Honda, 49-year-old Brian Tobias Sudduth, both were killed at the scene.

Four children, all aged 11,  were in the Honda and were also injured. STAR Flight was called in to fly them to Dell Children's medical Center. Officials say one child has potentially critical injuries and the other three have potentially serious injuries. The current condition of the children is not known.

The crash caused 290 to be shut down for about five hours. The highway reopened around 2 a.m.
