Two men injured in South Austin shooting

Shots rang throughout the Garrison Park neighborhood Friday night and alarmed neighbors ran outside to see what was going on.

James Grizzard was having dinner when he said he heard the sound of multiple gunshots he describes the neighborhood as safe and family friendly.

"It's a really quiet neighborhood nothing like that really ever happens around here but it was definitely gunshots you can tell the difference," Grizzard said. "APD got here incredibly quickly. I was surprised, heard the shots walked outside sort of went back in and as soon as I went back in there were 10-15 cop cars here."

First responders arrived to a home on the 3900 block of Cherry Loop around 9:30 p.m.

ATCEMS reported finding two men with gunshot wounds in potentially life threatening conditions. The two men were taken to the hospital.

A family member of one of the victims said one victim went into surgery Saturday morning and is expected to survive. The family member said the two victims were friends and did not know what led to the shooting.
