Two motorcyclists killed in separate crashes

Authorities say two motorcyclists were killed early Sunday morning in separate crashes.

Around 1:30 a.m. paramedics were called to Shively Lane in Southeast Travis County for a crash involving a motorcyclist.

The man, in his 40s, died at the scene. It's not clear what caused him to lose control of his bike. Troopers with the Department of Public Safety are leading the investigation. They are working to notify the victim's family.

About an hour later Austin police were called to the intersection of Burleson Road and McKinney Falls Parkway for a crash involving a motorcycle and a car.

"The driver of the other vehicle remained on scene. It doesn't appear he's going to be charged with driving while intoxicated," said Sr. Officer Christopher Irwin.

Officers say it appears the motorcyclist hit the car which was stopped at the light. The motorcyclist was a man in his 30s. His name has not been released yet.

Three people were killed in crashes on Sunday night within about an hour.
