Two shot while sleeping under William Cannon bridge

Two people were seriously injured after in an overnight shooting in South Austin. The men were sleeping under a bridge in the 1500 block of West William Cannon Drive when they were shot. 

According to the Austin Police Department, the shooting happened around 3 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018. The men did not see a suspect after the shooting and walked to a nearby apartment complex parking lot and began calling for help. A resident who was on their balcony at the time called 911. 

One of the men is in his twenties, the other is in his fifties.

According to police, the victims are believed to be related and homeless. 

According to ATCEMS, both have serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.
