Uhland girl gets invitation to White House Easter Egg Roll

A nine-year-old Central Texas girl is headed to The White House after writing a compassionate letter to President Obama. Now she is invited to a presidential Easter tradition, the Easter Egg Roll.

These simple words from Danielle Hillan’s letter were all President Barack Obama needed to hear to invite Jacob's Well Elementary 4th grader, Daniella Hillan to The White House.

She found out the news Wednesday while at school. Her parents say their charitable daughter wrote the letter after passing by someone on the street last year.

“There was a homeless man holding a sign asking for help and I looked in the mirror and saw that Daniella got very sad and quiet,” Norma Gonzalez-Hillan, mother, said.

Once they got home, she grabbed her pencil and paper.

“She said ‘Mama I wrote a letter for the president,’” Hillan’s mother, said.

The president responded with an endearing letter, just two months after.

“She couldn't believe the president actually read her letter and answered back,” Hillan’s mother, said.

“I'm a real softy, so I thought maybe if I wrote the letter it'll help the business or my business grow and become stronger,” Daniella Hillan said.

She is in the business of giving.

“She's always had a big heart. It's one of those things that both mom and I have always said to her, we don't limit family to just family,” Aaron Hillan, father, said.

It will be another few weeks before the family takes off to Washington. In the meantime Daniella and her sister are already figuring out what they'll do when they land.

“Meet the president and roll in the grass,” Hillan said.
