On Monday (3/6) afternoon, Austin police gave an update on the March 5 morning sexual assault near UT.
The University initially said it took place on the Drag (Guadalupe) but today APD confirmed the call came from the 2200 block of Rio Grande at 12:41 Sunday morning.
Austin Police officer Destiny Winston says when they got the "urgent sex crime" call, they spoke with a female victim on scene.
"At this time, no arrests have been made and we have no information regarding a suspect or suspects. So please understand we are still early on in this investigation. We will provide more information as it becomes available," Winston said.
In an e-mail to students, the University of Texas did confirm the victim is a UT student and that she didn't know her assailants...plural. Austin police say they aren't sure if there was more than one attacker.
They say if you have any information about what happened, call the Sex Crimes Tip Line at 512-974-5095.
