VP Pence addresses Republican governors in Austin

Vice President Mike Pence and the Second Lady were in Texas again Wednesday, this time to give an update on Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts.The vice president also thanked Republican governors at an annual conference for all they've accomplished.

This is actually the third time in about three months that the vice president has come to Texas - each time to show his support.

Nearly all of the nation's 34 Republican governors were in Austin on Wednesday.

Vice President Mike Pence highlighted their accomplishments.

"Just look at the policies that they've been able to pass and advance because of your support. They've cut taxes in one state after another, they've cut through red tape, they've signed legislation like 'right-to-work,' they've expanded access to affordable high quality healthcare," says Vice President Mike Pence.

Pence says the list goes on. He was the keynote speaker for the Republican Governors Association annual conference. Republicans now hold 34 of the 50 state governor seats, the highest number in American history. Regardless of what side your on, pence says the 10th Amendment will never be ignored by the Trump Administration.

"This president in fact, has signed laws to help restore state control over education and land management already. He's directed federal agencies to work more cooperatively with states on issues ranging from healthcare to energy and infrastructure," says Vice President Mike Pence.

The vice president came to Texas just last week to stand with families in Sutherland Springs following the worst attack on a place of worship in American history. Pence was also here in August walking through debris in Victoria in the wake of the Hurricane Harvey aftermath. On Wednesday he showed his ongoing support as he met with Governor Greg Abbott to discuss how they're helping Texas rebuild.

"Through it all, we never fail to be inspired by the resilience and the faith and the character of the people of Texas," says Vice President Mike Pence.

Before leaving, Vice President Pence told the crowd that if we all work together, he believes we'll see historic tax relief before the end of this year. The vice president went on to say the first tax priority is for working families. He and President Trump referring to it as the "middle class miracle."

"When we do it, we're going to make America prosperous again, we're going to have the ability to make America safe again and to borrow a phrase, we're going to 'make America great again,'" says Vice President Mike Pence.
