Wimberley woman creates the Booby Trap Bra

A Wimberley woman has created a sports bra with hidden compartments to conceal self-defense weapons. People can choose from either a knife or pepper spray.

This past April Jennifer Cutrona was running along the hike and bike trail in Austin when she says a man, who was hiding in the brush, startled her.

"He jumped right into the trail at me and I dodged him and was able to not be grabbed and he was yelling and I ran away he was yelling to stop," said Cutrona.

His intentions may have been harmless, but she didn't stick around to find out.
"It scared me to the point that I went straight home and decided I would never be that vulnerable again," said Cutrona. "I have two small kids at home and to be senselessly harmed would affect them tremendously, so I would never be on a trail without protection again."
She cut a hole in the front of one of her sports bras, inserted a pocket knife sheath--and the Booby Trap Bra was born.
"When I realized how great it made me feel, I immediately knew I needed to take it to market and that I needed to get it out there to other women," said Cutrona. "I started looking around on the market and there was nothing similar, so I filed a patent right away and began working with a pattern-maker."
Cutrona calls her creation the "just in case bra."
"Basically to look inside it, it would remind you of what you carry on your belt if you carry a knife. There's a magnet also attached in here so this doesn't fall out. If you want to do 10 cartwheels, it's nice and secure," she said.
In addition to the knife concealing bra, there is one for pepper spray.
She says they've restored her freedom to do what she loves.
"Hopefully you never have to pull it, but just in case you do, it's there," said Cutrona.
The bras start at $50 dollars. In addition to her online store, Cutrona has a store in Gonzales and Kentucky.
