Woman accused of running man over on East 6th and driving off

A woman is in jail after she allegedly ran over a man and then drove off on East 6th Street. It happened around 1 a.m. on February 9.

Austin police say 24-year-old Elizabeth Elliott was driving without her headlights on when she hit the victim, Hector "Mio" Alvarado.

Police tracked Elliott down after a witness wrote down her license plate number.

Alvarado was taken to a hospital with several broken bones and will need surgery. He is a bar manager at Badlands Austin where co-workers say they've organized a benefit show to help raise money for Alvarado's medical bills.

The show is expected to take place on February 26.

Employees say they'll be updating their Facebook page with more information about the event as it gets closer.
