Police identify man killed in central Austin car crash

AUSTIN, Texas - Police have identified a man who was killed in a central Austin crash Tuesday.

32-year-old Simon Rodriguez died at UMC Brackenridge after a crash at Koenig Lane and Airport Boulevard.

Police say Rodriguez was driving an SUV going west on Koenig.

They say he was crossing into oncoming traffic to pass vehicles when he hit a Toyota head-on.

The driver of the Toyota was airlifted to Brackenridge.

Rodriguez's passenger was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
