Angry Bernie Sanders supporters take over media tent at DNC

- Bernie Sanders supporters took over a media tent outside the Democratic National Convention Tuesday night, upset over Hillary Clinton’s official nomination to the Democratic ticket.

The supporters, many of whom were delegates, entered the tent around 7:15 p.m. and staged a sit-in. Police closed off the doors to prevent anyone else from coming in and after about 45 minutes the protesters left peacefully.

No one was detained or arrested.

Many of the protesters were angry over what they called a “crooked” election process. Earlier in the week, leaked emails showed members of the Democratic National Committee played favorites during the primary process, forcing the head of the committee, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, to step down just as the convention got underway.

When Clinton was officially nominated as the party’s candidate Tuesday night, many Sanders supporters walked out of the arena.

It’s unclear if the Sanders delegates will continue to stage protests throughout the rest of the convention.
