Rattlesnakes slither into the State Capitol to promote Sweetwater Rattlesnake Round-up

Rattlesnakes were slithering at the State Capitol Monday.

The Sweetwater Jaycees brought some of their friends with them to the capitol. They want everyone to know about the world's largest rattlesnake roundup in Sweetwater, Texas.

It's been held since 1958.

It started as a way to help area farmers and ranchers get rid of rattlers causing them and their livestock problems.

Not only do they still round-up the rattlesnakes they also milk them of their venom.

It's collected and used in medical research and for an antidote for snake bite victims.

The Sweetwater Rattlesnake Round-up is March 13th through 15th this year, if you'd like to attend.
