Round Rock gets another financial boost to its shopping scene

The Round Rock economy gets another financial shot in the arm with a new addition to its shopping lineup. Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World will open in just a couple of months.

We're really a destination retailer, so this is just perfect for us," said Asa Ewing, General Manager.

Job creation is also one of the highlights Ewing mentioned.

Outdoor World is set to open in June, bringing another familiar face, to the ever growing Round Rock shopping scene.

"We're bringing a lot to the community. We're hiring around 250 local people including our management team, Ewing said."

This location will be the 7th store in the state, a decision shoppers like Mark Winans can appreciate.

"Looking forward to having a store closer," said Winans.

Winans drives frequently from Killeen to Austin and believes not only will a store here be convenient for shoppers, but helpful to the community as a whole.

The Round Rock Chamber of Commerce released a statement saying the shop will diversify the area by adding another shopping choice and being a true destination for retail.

"It's really a good thing it's a boost to the economy, creates a lot of jobs and a lot of opportunities," said Winans.

Opportunities that Ewing and his team are excited to see unfold. Neighboring Round Rock Premium Outlets and Ikea have already begun talking about solutions for the added traffic congestion.

"They're very happy that we're here because they look for destination stores and that's what we bring."

Ewing says there is still a lot to do in the next couple of months, but he says he is excited to see how shoppers will accept his team.
