Round Rock police on lookout for suspects in propane tanks thefts

The Round Rock Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying suspect(s) involved in the theft of propane tanks from local retailers. Since January 1, 2015, the department has received four reports of a man breaking into and removing full tanks of propane from outside storage containers.

A total of 60 Blue Rhino brand propane tanks were removed by someone after the chain was cut that secures the storage containers and loaded the tanks in a four-door dark colored truck.

Police say it's possible that the suspect may be wearing clothing that would disguise him as a legitimate delivery person or contractor. The propane tank thefts occurred during varied hours on the following dates and locations:

Jan. 1, Walgreens, 2851 Oakmont, Round Rock

Feb. 1, Walgreens, 2851 Oakmont, Round Rock

Jan. 22, Wag-a-bag, 801 South Mays, Round Rock

Jan. 26, Walgreens, 2220 S. IH 35, Round Rock

Anyone with information about these thefts is asked to call the Round Rock Police Department Property Crimes Unit at 512-341-3103 or Williamson County Crime Stoppers at 800-253-7867.
