Search warrant issued in Samantha Dean case

A search warrant has been issued on the home of an Austin Police Department officer in connection with the death of pregnant crime victim's advocate Samantha Dean.

Dean was found dead in February. An autopsy found she died from a gunshot wound to the head. She was the victim services coordinator for the Kyle Police Department.

Authorities executed a search warrant Tuesday at both VonTrey Clark's home and car.

According to Clark's attorney, they took a DNA sample from him, several pairs of shoes and essentially every electronic device in the house. The nature and number of items taken, and the things police were looking for but did not find, suggest the identity of Samantha Dean's killer remains very much a mystery to them.

Police and prosecutors asked Judge Kocurek to hide their reasons for requesting the warrant from the public for at least the next 30 days, likely because the investigation is ongoing.
