Surf park coming to Austin

Did you hear about the giant surf park that Doug Coors is building just east of the airport? The NLand Surf Park CEO discusses his plans for the first land locked surf park in North America. It's set to be completed by 2016.

Picture a massive man made lagoon with 11 surfing areas churning out perfect waves from one to six feet high.

Coors says he picked Austin because the city has surfers and recreational athletes who might be interested in going to the park. He also says that the controlled wave lagoon is the perfect place to learn how to surf.

Renderings show that the size of the park will roughly be like the portion of Lady Bird Lake in between the 1st Street Bridge and the Congress Bridge.
