Ted Cruz campaign says Senator "foolishly experimented with marijuana" in his youth

Representatives for Republican Senator Ted Cruz claim he "experimented with marijuana" in his youth.

A spokesperson for the potential 2016 presidential contender told Daily Mail on Tuesday that he tried the drug in his teens but did not say how many times.

The paper quotes his spokesperson as saying, "When he was a teenager, he foolishly experimented with marijuana. It was a mistake and he's never tried it since."

The Daily Mail asked the spokespeople of ten likely Republican presidential candidates whether their bosses ever tried weed. Only seven responded.

Several high-profile politicians have admitted to trying the drug, including Presidents Barack Obama, President Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
