Texas Department of State Health Services assisting Zilker Park rabies case

AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Department of State Health Services is now getting involved in the rabies case at Zilker Park.

They're trying to help get the word out to find the child who may have been exposed to a rabid dog at Zilker Park back on February 8th.

The elementary school aged boy with pale skin visited Zilker Park's off leash dog park during the dog's infectious period.

He was seen playing fetch with the infected dog for about 15 minutes.

The child was accompanied by two Caucasian women and the three appeared to speak a language other than Spanish or English.

It's unclear if they are residents of Austin.
