Fort Worth newlyweds go missing on way to honeymoon

Friends and family want to find Fort Worth newlyweds who never made it to their honeymoon destination.

Family members say Forrest and Donna Sanco arrived at their first stop in the Bahamas on September 25, but they haven't been heard from or seen since.

Relatives are desperate to find the couple. They’ve hired their own search teams, but it's been over two weeks without a single trace of them.

The Sancos took off from Fort Worth in their own Cessna 150 on a honeymoon trip. Forrest is an engineer at Lockheed. Donna is from Oklahoma and recently joined him in Fort Worth.

The couple was headed to the island of Rum Cay, but they never got there.

“It's kind of hard in from this distance and not being there of course,” said Jason Fox, a family friend.

Family and friends like Fox are pouring over aerial photos taken by search teams. Resources in the Bahamas are tied up with hurricane relief, so the family is using GoFundMe to hire its own searchers.

"With that money, we've been able to hire two private search and rescue teams with aircraft and cameras,” said Erin Simmons, Donna’s daughter-in-law. “They’ve been doing flyovers since yesterday and back out today."

The family says they know the couple made it to Florida and went through customs in Freeport around September 26. The Sancos posted a picture after a stop to refuel two hours from their destination and then nothing. There were reports of bad weather in the area at the time.

Relatives say the couple went to school together and has been building a new home in Fort Worth.

“They recently reunited on Facebook, whirlwind romance, got engaged, began traveling,” Simmons said. “They’ve just been the happiest couple."

A relative says the Sancos were delayed in Florida due to some repairs that had to be made on the plane. The hope is that maybe the couple just got stranded somewhere. They did have water and food on the plane.
