Houston dentist shoots man who exposed self in his office

HOUSTON (AP) -- Police say a man is hospitalized after a Houston dentist shot him after the man exposed himself to him and his employees and chased them from the office.

The incident happened about 1 p.m. Tuesday at the office just off Interstate 45 in southeastern Houston, about 2 miles north of Hobby Airport. Houston police spokesman John Cannon says witnesses told officers the suspect entered the office and exposed himself to everyone there.

Cannon said the man chased the dentist and his employees into the parking lot outside. The man then charged at the dentist, who was armed and shot him once in the stomach. He remains in Ben Taub Hospital recovering after surgery.

No one else was injured. Witnesses said the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
