A North Texas man went airborne for an out-of-the-box proposal for his girlfriend.

26-year-old Nick Cannan from Frisco has always loved aviation and just got his pilot’s license last week. After several months of planning, he decided to use it to finally pop the question to his girlfriend, Kez Beattie, over the weekend.

“I wanted this proposal to not be the typical proposal that guys do,” he said. “I wanted it to be extraordinary.”

Cannan recorded their first flight together over the Grayson County town of Gunter on Saturday. Mid-flight, Cannan told Beattie to look down to the ground. There, a large sign read, “Kez, I love you. Will you marry me?”

Over the moon, Beattie said yes and sealed the deal with a mid-air kiss.

“I had a lot of things that fell into place for this, and I can’t be grateful enough,” Cannan said. “It was a major success and we will never forget this memory!”

The couple is planning their wedding for some time next fall.
