GARLAND, Texas (AP) -- A driver has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after police say she fatally struck a person standing by a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of a Dallas-area freeway.
Garland police said Sunday that 53-year-old Rhonda Anderson of Mequite has been charged in the Saturday night incident.
Police say Anderson drove off Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway and around 22-year-old Clifton Curtis' vehicle, which was broken down on the shoulder.
Police say Curtis was standing on the passenger side of the vehicle. Police say Anderson swiped the passenger side of Curtis' vehicle and struck Curtis, a Dallas resident who died at the scene.
Anderson remained at the Garland Detention Center on Sunday with bond set at $100,000. Jail officials did not have an attorney listed for her.
