Some in Fort Worth ordered to boil their water

- The water may not be safe to drink for some people in far north Fort Worth.

The city of Fort Worth issued boil water notice for people living in the area bordered by Sendra Boulevard, Willow Springs Road, the Haslet city limits and Bonds Ranch Road.

The water tower in the area was accidentally drained because of a human error. That led to a drop in the water pressure that could have allowed bacteria to remain in the water.

The boil water restrictions won't be lifted until Friday afternoon at the earliest. Water department staff must first test samples from the tower and it will take 18 to 24 hours to get results back from the lab.

In the meantime, people living in the area should boil their water for two minutes before drinking it, using it to brush their teeth or making ice.

Or, the city of Fort Worth will provide bottled water that is safe to drink. Residents can pick it up at Fire Station #34 on Sendera Ranch Boulevard and Fire Station #41 on Willow Springs Road.

Six Northwest ISD schools will be impacted. Classes at Eaton High, Wilson Middle, Nance Elementary, Schluter Elementary, Thomspon Elementary and Sendera Ranch Elementary will still go on there, but the schools will be serving pre-packaged breakfast and lunches to students.

The water fountains will also be turned off. Parents will be encouraged to send bottled water for their children.
