Texas Tech University on lockdown

Breaking:  According to the Texas Tech University Office of Communications a Texas Tech police officer has been shot and killed at Texas Tech Police Headquarters.

The school's website reports that at this time, the shooter is still at large and the campus is on lockdown.

It happened around 8 p.m. on Monday night at Texas Tech Police Department headquarters, 413 Flint Avenue.

Early reports said the shooting suspect is about 6 feet tall, around 140 pounds, with red hair and blue eyes, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

The inside of the building has been cleared and a SWAT team is assisting with the search.

Authorities are advising everyone to avoid the area of 4th & Flint.
