HOUSTON (Fox 32 News) - A TSA security checkpoint at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport had to be closed Sunday because there were not enough TSA workers to staff it.

The checkpoint at Terminal B closed in the afternoon and travelers were told to go through security in other terminals. They were also warned to allow extra time for the security process.

In a statement, officials said the problems were "due to staffing issues associated with the partial shutdown of the federal government."

TSA workers have been calling in sick in increasing numbers over the past week at some airports.

Approximately 800,000 federal workers are working without pay. There is no sign when the shutdown will end.
