Watauga family's home destroyed after 2 fires in 2 days

A Watauga family is in disbelief after their home was destroyed by two fires in less than 48 hours.

The initial fire at the Walkers’ house in the 6500 block of Highmeadow Court started in a back bedroom Monday morning.

Robert and Lisa Walker, their adult son, a niece with special needs and three foster children all made it out safely, but two of their dogs died.

The emotional family let firefighters and a restoration company secure the house. They left to checked into a hotel for the night.

Things got worse Tuesday morning when neighbors called to say their home was again engulfed in flames.

Investigators believe embers from a small fire in a converted garage reignited on Tuesday.

“I finally got my family situated and we got a phone call that our house was on fire. It was unreal to me because I thought nothing else could burn. I thought it was over with,” Robert said.

Firefighters from Watauga, North Richland Hills, Haltom City and Richland Hills worked to put out the blaze, but this time the house was a total loss.

The family was able to salvage some of their personal items out after the initial fire, but not many.
