Underground marijuana farm found in Arlington home's backyard

A Texas Department of Public Safety investigation into stolen property ended up uncovering a marijuana farm in the backyard of an Arlington home.

Special agents along with Arlington firefighters and police officers spent Tuesday uncovering the marijuana farm at a home in the 5800 block of Magnum Road.

DPS special agents went to the house on Tuesday morning to serve a search warrant related to a cargo theft. The search uncovered about 100 marijuana plants in a dug out space under the deck that had a 9-foot deep hole connecting it to an ground-level access point.

The underground opening where the grow was happening was 14 feet by 8 feet. Arlington fire was called to the scene to check the stability and safety of the underground location.

Numerous solar panels were also on the deck to help grow the marijuana. Police also removed several stolen items from the home connected to the initial investigation.

Tri Vo, 31, and Jlicia Perry, 26, were arrested at the home and taken to the Tarrant County Jail for cargo theft. Additional charges could be filed in the coming days.
