Jason Aldean's hometown prays for Las Vegas

Country music star Jason Aldean expressed his condolences to the victims of the attack. The Georgia native had been on stage for just a few minutes when the gunfire started.

In his hometown of Macon, his neighbors are grieving alongside him. Many said they are simply devastated by the news and all they can do is pray.

Words of support and prayer are what the city of Macon was sending across the country to one of their own Jason Aldean and the victims of the shooting at the country music festival. The death toll is now at almost 60 people with more than 500 injured. The news of the massacre has those in his hometown devastated and speechless.

Aldean's roots are in Macon. He now even has a street sign named after him, Jason Aldean Way, outside where the new children’s hospital is slated to open in 2019, something close to the singer’s heart and for which he has raised millions of dollars through concerts.

Following the shooting, Aldean posted a "prayer for Las Vegas" photo to his Instagram page along with the following text:

“Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still dont know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe. My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night. #heartbroken #stopthehate”
