Officer-involved shooting inside Minneapolis City Hall

- An officer-involved shooting at Minneapolis City Hall is under investigation after police shot and wounded a man inside an interview room. The shooting happened just before 5 p.m. inside Room 108, which is home to multiple Minneapolis Police Department investigative units.

Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said the person investigators were interviewing was left alone in an interview room and began injuring himself with an “edged weapon.” Arradondo said the interview room has a video recording system and “any and all evidence will be handed over to the BCA.” The officers involved will be put on standard administrative leave.

“After attempting to subdue the adult male subject, officers discharged their weapons,” Arradondo said.

Chief Arradondo said officers responded to City Hall at 4:43 p.m. on an "officer needs help" call. By 6 p.m., Minneapolis police said "this is a contained incident and there's no threat to the public." The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the shooting.

The man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, but his condition was not released.

A Fox 9 crew is at Minneapolis City Hall and will provide updates to this developing story as they are confirmed by police.
