Parents of toddler killed in gator attack say they will not sue Disney

(ORLANDO, FL) - On Wednesday, Graves’ parents released a statement saying they had decided not to file a civil lawsuit against Disney.

"Melissa and I are broken. We will forever struggle to comprehend why this happened to our sweet baby, Lane. As each day passes, the pain gets worse, but we truly appreciate the outpouring of sympathy and warm sentiments we have received from around the world. We know that we can never have Lane back, and therefore, we intend to keep his spirit alive through the Lane Thomas Foundation. It is our hope that through the foundation we will be able to share with others the unimaginable love Lane etched in our hearts. In addition to the foundation, we will solely be focused on the future health of our family and will not be pursuing a lawsuit against Disney. For now, we continue to ask for privacy as we focus on our family."

On June 14th, an alligator pulled 2-year-old Lane Graves into the Seven Seas Lagoon, killing the toddler. An autopsy shows Graves drowned and suffered traumatic injuries. After the attack, Disney closed all resort beaches to guests.

Disney tells FOX 35 the resort beaches are now open, but there are changes. The beaches are only open when the sun is out, specifically from one hour after sunrise until one hour before sunset. There are also more signs and temporary barriers. Disney tells us they are working on permanent, long-term safety solutions, and staff will be at the beaches to help guests. Also, hotels with marinas are now offering all boat rentals.
