Police: Daycare worker finds girl chewing on packet of drugs

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) Police are investigating an incident at a West Philadelphia daycare center.

Police say workers at a daycare on the 5200 block of Haverford Ave. were making breakfast for kids when they noticed a 3-year-old girl chewing on something. According to police, workers checked on child and it appeared to be a packet of crack cocaine. Investigators say the child swallowed the drug.

Police say the girl was taken to CHOP where she tested positive for cocaine. She remained at CHOP overnight.

Authorities do not believe the drugs came from the daycare.
