Southwest Airlines jet skids on taxiway before takeoff at BWI Airport

- Baltimore-Washington International Airport officials say no injuries were reported after a Southwest Airlines jet skidded on a taxiway just before takeoff Wednesday morning.

Officials say the incident took place just after 10 a.m. Southwest Flight 906 was bound for Montego Bay, Jamaica with 143 passengers and six crew members aboard.

The Boeing 737 jet skidded but remained on the pavement, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and airport officials. While the National Weather Service reported light freezing rain early Wednesday morning, an airport spokesperson

Passengers and crew members left the plane safely using stairs, and they were bused to the airport terminal where they were being accommodated on different flights.

According to an airport spokesperson, 75 flights departed from Runway 15R-33L, where Flight 906 was headed for departure, before the incident took place. Pavement temperatures were above freezing at the time of the incident and there was no ice on the taxiway or runway, the spokesperson said, adding that pavement surface conditions were tested immediately following the incident and the result was within FAA standards.
