Car dangles off retaining wall following chase along I-20
ATLANTA - A chase reaching speeds of 130 miles per hour ended with the stolen vehicle crashing, flipping, then dangling on the edge of a retaining wall right above the busy ramp from Interstate 20 to the Downtown Connector .
FOX 5 News crews on assignment came across the chase which was heading westbound along I-20 just after 4:30 p.m.

The car flew by and narrowly missed the crew, as Georgia State Patrol was right behind it. The car took the off-ramp at Exit 58A but did not stop at Capitol Avenue. It slammed through a fence and down a short embankment and came to rest dangling backward laying on the driver's side on top of a retaining wall along the ramp from I-20 WB to the northbound on the Downtown Connector.
Officials said it was a miracle the car did not hit any cross traffic along the busy roadway.
"I said, oh my God, I was so scared.... [the car was] speeding lane to lane," said one driver, who was scared the vehicle speeding down I-20 could have hurt her.

Atlanta Police said the 2010 Hyundai Veracruz came back as stolen during a routine check by an officer in the area of Lee Street at White Oak Avenue. The officer attempted to stop the car, but the vehicle sped off.

Police said there were at least four people in the car, and three males are still at large after they got out of the vehicle and fled.
A 21-year-old woman was taken into custody. She was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries she received in the crash, which included two broken legs. Police say she is alert, conscious, and breathing.
A portion of Capitol Avenue and the ramp from I-20 WB to northbound on the Downtown Connector was closed while crews worked to figure out how to remove the vehicle.
"It could have easily fallen off that ledge and onto somebody. Thank God it got hung up where it did," one driver said, as he was rerouted off the Downtown Connector.
Crews worked to clear brush away from the car before attaching chains to the passenger side wheels and gently lowering it down to the ramp below. The car then was put on a flatbed and hauled away from the scene.
Police said the vehicle was reported stolen from DeKalb County on May 31. There are no descriptions of the suspects on the run and no charges have been filed.
The ramp was reopened around 6:30 p.m.
