Couple honored for having longest marriage in America

A California couple is being honored for having the longest marriage in America.

Maury and Helen Goosenberg have been married for 80 years! Surrounded by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were honored Sunday by the Group Worldwide Marriage Encounter.

The ceremony included a congressional proclamation. It was held at the Costa Glen Retirement Community where they live.

What's their advice on going the distance?

"A sense of humor is very important and just...liking each other very much. I think that's the main answer for everything," said Mrs. Goosenberg.

Maury Goosenbergy is 102-years-old and his wife, Helen, is just 100-years-old. The Carlsbad couple eloped in Philadelphia in 1935.
