Widow of fallen Locust Grove officer releases photos of newborn son

The mayor of Locust Grove announced the wife of Locust Grove Police Officer Chase Maddox has given birth to a baby boy Tuesday.

In a statement, Mayor Robert Price said he is told Officer Maddox's wife Alex and the Baby Bodie are OK. 

This is the couple's second child, both children are boys.

On Facebook, the City of Locust Grove asked people to please keep the family in their thoughts and prayers.

"The response from the community for donations of baby items and monetary support is overwhelming." the post said. "Thank you all."

Maddox was killed and Henry County deputies Michael Corley and Sid Callaway were injured when the man they were trying to arrest opened fire on them on Friday.Over the past few days, the community has rallied around the Maddox family. 

On Monday, his patrol car sat outside the police department covered in flowers. People who didn't know the officer, who don't even live there, stopped by to pay their respects.

He is the first officer killed in the city’s 124-year history.

The two deputies are now recovering from their injuries, a press release from Henry County said. Deputy Mike Corley is at home and Deputy Sid Callaway is out of the intensive care unit. 

Maddox's widow, Alex, was honored with a full police detail at the hospital on Wednesday.
