WWE's Wrestlemania comes to Orlando's Citrus Bowl in 2017

- WWE superstar John Cena and other performers joined Florida Governor Rick Scott, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, and Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs on Tuesday to announce that WrestleMania 33 will be held -- for the second time -- in Orlando in April of 2017.

Officials expect the event to sell out and bring nearly $100 million to the local economy, through product and vendor sales, and added jobs.

WrestleMania tops the list of major events slated to be held in the newly renovated Citrus Bowl. Mayor Dyer said that’s proof the $200 million construction project was a necessary investment. “We’re just about a year-and-a-half from having opened the new stadium,” the mayor said. “We’ve had events like the Rolling Stones, Copa coming up, a kick-off classic, and of course all of our bowl games and we probably wouldn’t have had those events if we had not done the renovations to the Citrus Bowl.”

WrestleMania brings its own special brand of entertainment and Cena said, adding that on April 2, 2017 WrestleMania 33 will not disappoint. “Somehow, some way, for 31, almost 32 years now, WrestleMania outdoes itself every single year,” he said. “Wrestlemania will be bigger and it will be better.”

This is the first time WrestleMania has been held in the same stadium twice. Orlando hosted the event back in 2008 with a record crowd at the venue.  WWE will be announcing ticket info and details this summer.
