Arthur Blank diagnosed with treatable form of prostate cancer

- He is most notable in Atlanta for being on the sidelines battling with the Falcons on any given Sunday, but Arthur Blank opened up Tuesday on a different battle.

The owner of the Atlanta Falcons released a statement through the team announcing he was diagnosed in December with a treatable form of prostate cancer.

"Over the last several weeks Angie and I have visited a number of expert doctors and hospitals across the country to identify the best treatment options for me," the statement read. "I have chosen and aggressive approach that will include surgery and the overall prognosis is good."

The 73-year-old co-founder of The Home Depot pledged in the statement that he would not let the diagnosis slow him down.

"I’m looking forward to getting this behind me and continuing a very active lifestyle, my upcoming wedding, as well as continued active involvement in our businesses and philanthropic efforts for years to come," Blank wrote.

Blank has been owner of the Atlanta Falcons for the past 14 years. He recently founded the 22nd Major League Soccer franchise the Atlanta United FC and has overseen construction of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the future home for his two teams.

He is currently engaged to Angela Macuga.
