Baseball players will step up to the plate with hot pink bats on Mother's Day

Louisville Slugger, the Official Bat of Major League Baseball, is donating more than 300 custom hot-pink wood bats for MLB players to swing on Mother’s Day, as part of the League’s “Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer” program.

This initiative, now in its 11th year, honors those who have bravely battled breast cancer and raises funds for ongoing awareness initiatives and breast-cancer research. Since 2006 Louisville Slugger has donated more than 3,000 custom hot-pink bats, valued at approximately $300,000, for MLB players to swing in Mother’s Day games. A total of 165 MLB games have been played with custom hot-pink Louisville Slugger bats since the program started.

Thirty honorary bat girls who have bravely battled breast cancer will each represent one of the 30 MLB teams and receive customized pink Louisville Slugger bats.

Following the Mother’s Day games, MLB will collect and authenticate the game-used pink Louisville Sluggers and auction them on Net proceeds from the auction will go to Major League Baseball Charities in support of the fight against breast cancer.
