Former Longhorn hosts basketball camp for girls

Former Longhorn Nneka Enemkpali was back on her old stomping grounds out at Pflugerville High School on Saturday putting on her first basketball camp for young girls.

Nneka, who now plays in the WNBA for the Seattle Storm, admits putting together her first camp was a little stressful at first because she's always been on the other side. But says it was definitely all worth it.

"(It's) all about empowering the next generation so I'm holding this camp in benefit of a nonprofit called Hope for Girls Africa." Enemkpali said,  "And basically what that organization does is they provide girls back in Nigeria, who come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds the opportunity to kind of come into a safe haven," she said.

Enemkpali had over 30 girls, ranging from 3rd to 11th grade, participate in the camp and while the campers are learning more about the game of basketball, Nneka hopes they'll take something else from it as well.

"They teach them the game of basketball so for these girls to come and take part in this camp is teaching them that they are afforded many luxuries living here in the United States. So for them to give back just by coming to camp means a lot to me." Enemkpali said.  "And once we have our workshop.  I'm going to teach them a little more about what they're actually doing today."
