LBJ High School holds first day of football practice

LBJ High School was among the high school programs that didn't hold spring workouts but it's back on the field now for players and coaches.

Jags return a lot from last year's playoff team and are the District 25-5A favorites.

Coach Andrew Jackson says, "The seasons just seem like they kinda come together. It's really exciting I was up at 4:30 this morning, couldn't go back to sleep. Seems like the first day of school. Our dream are to win the district championship, make a deep playoff run, maybe one of these times, we get into the playoffs. We can bring a state championship back to Austin. We're a young football team this year, we have some athletes."

One of the players, Chris Sanders, says success will depend on some of the younger players. "I hope to see some of the new guys really step up and show their confidence. Because we're going to need them this year. We got a couple of young guys that I really want to see step up."
