Two young women dressed as clowns were arrested Thursday night after chasing after and scaring two younger girls at night, Roseville Police say.

Chief James Berlin says two costumed 18-year-old females jumped out of a car, screaming at and chasing after two 14-year-old girls. Police say this happened around 9 p.m. in the 18000 block of Minnesota Street, which is near 13 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue.

The younger teens ran directly to the police department, which is about two blocks away on Gratiot Avenue.

Police say the teens were hysterical when they came in. Police went outside and searched the area and say they "observed two idiots dressed as clowns."

Police ran after the suspects and were able to take both women into custody.

Police say the woman stated they thought it was funny to terrorize unsuspecting pedestrians.

The women are being arraigned in Roseville's 39th District Court this morning. If they fail to post bond on the Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct Charge, it is a crime punishable by up to 90 days in Jail and/or a $500.00 fine.

FOX 2's Charlie Langton reports the judge called dressing up as clowns "outrageous" at their arraignment, and set a $10,000 bond for each defendant.

The women are due back in court later this month.
