Leesburg woman mauled to death by her own dog

Emergency workers found a gruesome scene in Leesburg on Friday, after police officers say a 66-year-old woman was found mauled to death by her pit bull mix.

Investigators have identified the woman as Sonya Tyson.

They say she was found covered in blood, lying on the back porch of her home.

When emergency crews arrived, they say the dog was still inside the home and were forced to shoot and kill the animal.

Officials say Tyson had the dog since since he or she was a puppy.

Lake County Animal Control officers are now trying to figure out what caused the dog to snap.
