Man accused of throwing gator through drive-thru window

- A Palm Beach County man was arrested after officers said he threw an alligator through the window of a Wendy's drive-thru.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said an officer responded to the incident in Loxahatchee around 2:15 a.m. on October 11, 2015.

There, he found a 3.5-foot American Alligator in the kitchen area of a Wendy's restaurant.

The officer said he taped the gator's jaw shut for safety, then took it to a nearby canal where it was released.

After obtaining surveillance video from the Wendy's and a nearby gas station, the officer discovered a possible suspect got gas just before he deposited the animal onto the restaurant kitchen's floor.

Investigators finally tracked down the suspect, 23-year-old Joshua James, of Jupiter, who admitted to picking the alligator up on the side of the road and throwing it through the window at Wendy's. Officers did not say if James gave a reason for his actions.

He was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, without intent to kill - a third-degree felony - and misdemeanor unlawful possession and transportation of an alligator.
