Prince George's County man describes surviving on rainwater for 2 days after crashing car into ditch

GLENN DALE, Md. - A Maryland man who survived for two days after his car crashed and flipped over in a ditch is sharing his incredible story of survival.

Earlier this month, Greg Eubanks crashed his SUV near an exit ramp along Indian Head Highway (Route 210) in the Oxon Hill area. He was thrown from the vehicle and landed in a deep ravine.

For two days, Eubanks drank rainwater to survive. The 41-year-old Prince George's County man was later spotted by Maryland highway workers on the morning of April 16 and rushed to the hospital.

Eubanks said the last thing he remembers about the crash is a black truck hitting him from the side and losing control of his car.

“It started to rain a little bit on and off throughout the day,” Eubanks recalled. “As the day got later on, I noticed that there were some buzzards flying above me. Maybe two or three. But it felt as though they were waiting for me to just die off and attack me perhaps. I just wanted to keep my body moving to insure myself that I didn’t want to lie there and just let them attack me.”

He also said there were three snakes to the right of him on a tree.

Eubanks said he suffered broken bones in his left and right shoulder along with some broken bones toward the bottom of his spinal cord. He is in good spirits, but his recovery is expected to take several months.
