Police investigating suspicious death in Murphy Park

Police are investigating the death of a man who was found in Murphy Park.

According to the Taylor Police Department, the man was found dead in the park by employees of the City Parks and Recreation Department just before 9 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018. 

The deceased man was found next to a vehicle at a table in the park. 

He has been identified as 61-year-old Donald Hazelwood of Silver City, North Carolina.

Officers observed obvious trauma to his head. His death is being investigated as suspicious. 

An autopsy will be conducted to attempt to determine the cause of death.
