Spain defeats France 2-0 in World Cup Semifinal at Dallas Stadium
Spain has advanced to the World Cup Final after beating France 2-0 at Dallas Stadium.
Tuesday was just the second time that France and Spain met in the World Cup. France won the lone showdown back in 2006 in a Round of 16 elimination match.
But Spain was favored to win this time around. The past two meetings between the teams have both ended in Spanish wins, with Spain prevailing in the 2024 Euro Semifinals before becoming the European champions.
Spain’s Lamine Yamal, who turned 19 years old in Dallas on Monday, said his birthday wish, of course, was to beat France and then win Spain’s second-ever World Cup.
Spain has still only allowed one goal so far in this tournament.
France’s star player Kylian Mbappe, who currently leads the Golden Boot Race with eight goals and three assists, failed to add to his total.
Tuesday was the final match at Dallas Stadium in Arlington.
