Backpacks for Hope campaign kicks off
The 12th annual Backpacks for Hope campaign starts this week. The campaing collects donations of new backpacks and school supplies for children of survivors in Texas domestic violence shelters. Texas Advocacy Project CEO Heather Bellino joins FOX 7 Austin's Mike Warren to discuss.
AUSTIN, Texas - The 12th annual Backpacks for Hope campaign is kicking off this week.
The campaign, organized by the Texas Advocacy Project, helps make sure children of survivors in Texas domestic violence shelters are prepared for the next school year.
From June 13 through July 12, TAP is collecting donations of new backpacks and school supplies to distribute. The backpacks are filled with school supplies, safety planning literature, and a discreet tag that lists TAP’s toll-free legal line.
Those wanting to help can:
- Build a Backpack for Hope by shopping for a backpack, filling it with school supplies from TAP's list, then dropping it off at a Public Drop Off location
- Shop online for backpacks and school supplies directly from TAP's Amazon Wish List. Items are shipped directly to the organization
- Volunteer to help get Backpacks for Hope ready for shipment. Contact volunteer@TexasAdvocacyProject.org for more information.
